Write the division as a fraction
2/3x - 8 = 9
Multiply both sides of the equation by 3
2x-24=27
Move the constant to the right and change the sign
2x=27+24
Add the numbers
2x=51
Divide both sides by 2
2x/2=51/2
X= 25.5
