Anatomically, women have a shorter urethra compared to men. Therefore, bacteria that cause Urethral Track Infections (UTIs) have less distance to travel to the bladder (from the outside) than in men. Women are consequently prone to acquiring cystitis (when exposed during sexual intercourse with infected partner) when compared to men.
