We are given

Five added to one fourth q is the same as 4 more than q

Left side:

[tex] =5+\frac{1}{4}*q [/tex]

Right side:

[tex] =4+q [/tex]

now, we can set them equal

[tex] 5+\frac{1}{4}*q =4+q[/tex]

we can isolate q on anyone side

[tex] 5 =4+q-\frac{q}{4} [/tex]

[tex] 5-4 =q-\frac{q}{4} [/tex]

[tex] 1 =\frac{3q}{4} [/tex]

[tex] 1 *4=3q [/tex]

[tex] q =\frac{4}{3} [/tex]...........Answer
