Ralph (r): a + 5

Alphonse (a): a

Ralph + Alphonse = Total

(a + 5) + (a) = 73

2a + 5 = 73

2a = 68

a = 34

Ralph: a + 5 = 34 + 5 = 39

Answer: Ralph has 39 marbles, Alphonse has 34 marbles
