I understand your fears and distrust of a powerful federal government. However, for a government to be able to function effectively and protect its citizens, it must have certain powers such as to raise revenues and keep an army. Nevertheless, the constitution will be amended to include the Bill of Rights that protects fundamental rights of citizens
