Ok so in order to do these, you need to make the bases the same. Since 3^2 is 9, you can make that side of the equation look like 3^2(x+5). Now, you have 3^x=3^2(x+5). Since the bases are the same, you can drop those. Your equation will now look like x=2(x+5). All that is left to do now is solve. x=2x+10 -> -10=x
