4.4 tons to the nearest ton is 4
7.7 tons to the nearest ton is 8

The most lightweight elephant of the three has got 4 tons.

The heaviest elephant of the three has got 8 tons.

The one in the middle has got 6 tons, due to the fact that:

4.4 + 7.7 = 12.1
12.1/2 = 6.05

6.05 to the nearest ton is 6.
