[tex]Given : \sqrt{4q - 2} = \sqrt{3q + 8}[/tex]

Squaring on both sides we get :

⇒ 4q - 2 = 3q + 8

rearranging like terms

⇒ 4q - 3q = 8 + 2

⇒ q = 8 + 2

⇒ q = 10

Hey there!

[tex]\sqrt{4q-2} = \sqrt{3q+8}[/tex]

Square each side to get rid of the radical sign.

[tex]\sqrt{4q-2}^2= \sqrt{3q+8}^2[/tex]

Now we have:

4q-2= 3q+8

Add 2 on both sides.

4q= 3q+10

Subtract 3q on each side.

q=10

10 is your answer.

I hope this helps!
