“The purpose of Thomas Paine's "Common Sense" is to persuade colonists to fight for their independence. Numerous reasons are cited, such as unfair taxation and the King's reluctance to do things which are in the best interests of the colonies. Paine uses lots of logos, pathos, and ethos to illustrate his points.”
