How does Jacob Riis's work demonstrate a theme of the Gilded Age?

We believe that Jacob Riis had the most effective ways of dealing with the issues of the Gilded Age, as he not only opened societies eyes, but also came up with solutions for the issues. Riis's photography opened many eyes to things that were ignored or not noticed for so long.
