The chemical that may be used to distinguished the given compounds, CaCl2 and CaCO3, is AgNO3. By reacting silver nitrate to CaCl2, a precipitate AgCl is formed. Moreover, if AgNO3 is allowed to react with CaCO3, the gas CO2 is formed.
