1: check that the chamber pressure is zero
2: wear lab coat,eye protection, heat insulating gloves, and closed toe shoes
3: stand behind door when opening it
4: slowly open door only a crack
5: after the slow exhaust cycle, open autoclave door and allow liquids to cook for 20 minutes before removing.
