undistribute x (reverse the distributive proeprty)
ab+ac=a(b+c) so
mx+bx=x(m+b)
so
y=x(m+b)
divide both sides by (m+b)
[tex] \frac{y}{m+b} [/tex]=x
x=[tex] \frac{y}{m+b} [/tex]
