lets try substitution5x+2y=21=5x=21-2y=x=(21-2y)/5

sub into second equation

-2(21-2y)/5+6y=-34(-42+4y)/5+6y=-34solve for yy=-64/17plug into equation and solve for x=(97/17)

Answer:

The y-coordinate of the solution would be [tex]-\frac{64}{17}[/tex]

Step-by-step explanation:

Given system of equations,

5x+2y = 21 ----------(1)

-2x+6y = -34 ---------(2),

2 × Equation (1) + 5 × Equation (1),

We get,

4y + 30y = 42 - 170

34y = -128

[tex]\implies y = -\frac{128}{34}=-\frac{64}{17}[/tex]
