Answer:

Factor out 1/3 because its a coefficient of x².

Why?

In order to proceed and complete the square... We need the coefficient of x² to be 1 and luckily for us.... Factoring 1/3 even makes everything easier

y=1/3[ x² + 20x + 97]

Using completing square on the function inside the bracket

x² + 20x + 10² + 97 – 10²

We have it to be( x + 10)² - 3]

y = 1/3[ (x +10)² - 3]

This is our Vertex Form... y=1/3[(x + 10)² - 3]

v(-10,-3).
