Trauma to the spinal cord is always serious. The higher it occurs in the spine, the more serious it is. Why should this be so

Answer:

As you get higher up the spinal chord it branches out further into more nerves branching off into the body. These nerves will be affected negatively. The further up the injury, the more nerves are damaged. It is also getting closer to the brain stem so there is a higher chance of widespread paralysis.
