If four friends have to share three oranges, how many pieces would you divide the oranges into so that each friend gets an equal amount? Please explain if possible

If you divide the oranges into 4 slices each. Each friend would have 3 slices.

Cut each orange into 4 pieces and give each friend 3 pieces  (4x3=12 divided by 4 is 3)
