A car comes to a stop over a distance of 30.0 m after the driver applies the brakes. If the car decelerates at a constant rate of –3.50 m/s2, what was the car's original speed?

Using kinematic equation,
v² - u² = 2as
0² - u² = -2(3.5)(30)
u² = 7(30)
u² = 210
u = 14.49 m/s.

Therefore original velocity was approx 14.5 m/s.
