Gregor Samsa, now transformed into a cockroach, overhears that his father had had some savings from the time he was running a business. The problem is that Gregor didn't know about this money while he was a human, but suffered the pressure to work hard and support his family. Nevertheless, now that he is useless, he feels relief that they aren't in a bad financial situation.
