During the convention, the delegates tried to resolve the problems of slavery and state representation. The delegates came up with the 3/5 Compromise, which meant that the votes of slaves would count as 3/5 of a freeman; and they also came up with the Great Compromise which called for a bicameral legislature-- meaning that it has two chambers so that states, both big and small, would be represented more fairly.
