Why do crickets stop chirping when a person approaches the sound of the chirp?

They do that as a form of survival mechanism.
Crickets could notify another organism's position if that organism are coming close to them.
In order to hide their position, crickets will stop the chirping so that organism wouldn't have any clue on the direction to the cricket's position.
