Use the distributive property.

The distributive property says that when something is multiplied to a sum in a parenthesis, then the result would be the same as multiplying the number to each thing in the parenthesis and adding them.

Basically,
a(b+c)=ab+ac

5(x+y)
=5x+5y

So, the answer is C.

Hope this helps!
