x + (8x) = 180
x being the measure of the shorter angle
8x being the measure of the larger angle

So, 9x = 180
x = 20

Now, we replace x for 20
We are looking for the larger angle so we replace x for 20 from 8x

8 (20) = 160
So, the larger angle measures 160 degrees.
