Suppose heather has 7.81 pounds of seed. if it takes 7.1 pounds of seed to plant one acre of grass, how many acres of grass can be planted?

Set up a proportion:

7.81/x = 7.1/1

Cross multiply:

7.81 = 7.1x

Then divide 7.1 on both sides to isolate x:

1.1 = x
