Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) is a hormone named for the effect of gamete production while luteinizing hormone (LH) is a hormone released from the anterior pituitary grand, named for producing the conversion of the follicle to the corpus luteum. Arriving at the ovaries FSH stimulates the development of the follicle while, LH stimulates the surrounding thecal cells. Both LH and FSH are referred to as gonadotropin hormone because they target and stimulate the release of the hormone from the gonards.
