Chamberlain argued that the colony are viewed with a sense of obligation because Britain worked toward improving the lives of natives. It is a view that is criticised by nationalistic voices in history who argued that despite the imperialistic England missionary efforts of education and health, the imperialists only worked toward exploitation of resources and cultural erosion.
